Guilt by surveillance photo.

I spied this little nugget on Facebook.

I felt compelled to post something about the photograph, not the crime, per se.

Mail theft, as the police castigate here, is not to be taken lightly, but it is a rather droll subject, one excruciatingly undeserving of coverage on this scintillating blog.

I read the post and scanned through the photographs of this Hispanic girl who took part in a concerted effort to steal a targeted item from a mail box in Tustin, California, recently. And amusingly, she committed this crime with one in her “oven.”

Mail theft is an ongoing issue for many cities in Orange County. On the surface, mail theft may not appear to be a serious crime, but it can have severe consequences for the victims. Last month this mother-to-be was dropped off in the residential area of Browning and San Juan St by what appears to be a dark blue Honda Fit (see attached photos). She rummaged through a resident’s mailbox and took some important documents. Officers were unable to gather a license plate on the vehicle, but did obtain some decent photographs of the vehicle and the pregnant female suspect.

Whatever it is she was looking for in order to meet her own personal ends, I don’t care.  I have no interest in personal and insignificant family drama.

But that photo, the surveillance photo.  What the…?

This is one of the worst, most incriminating surveillance photos I recall seeing.  It’s as if our mail thief transported through several dimensions in order to commit her dirty postal deed.  And so much for “poker face.”  If any single image screams guilty, it is this one.

Caught with her hand in the…mail box.
