Dogs in the house (Americans love their domesticated chaos).

I always had dogs during my childhood and young adulthood, at least until I stopped living with my parents.

I love dogs and I know them well. I’ve cried over deaths of my pets and I am not a callous soul. But these dogs I called pets lived outside the house. They never stepped foot (paw) inside and they were trained well in the rules of the house. All my dogs would stop at the rear doorstep no matter how juicy and meaty the enticement might be that beckoned inside the house. Our dogs knew.

This was owing to my father’s strict house rule: no dogs in the house.

It was a simple rule. As a child, I resented this rule. Like any other child, I wanted the dogs to romp around inside the house and frolic with the humans. It was a very childish notion and I saw nothing wrong with dogs running around where we lived, and I did not understand, nor accept, my father’s decree.

As I grew older, I came to absolutely accept and agree with this patriarchal dog ban.  I’ve known many people who did in fact allow dogs inside the house, and inevitably, regardless of how clean the dogs were groomed, it was disgusting.

Dogs pant, they smell, and depending on the breed, they shed hair all over the house. Their dander scatters everywhere and creates a disgusting layer of powdery sediment and their breath is hot and putrid.  Dogs are not trainable when it comes to table manners. Dogs are incompatible with indoor, civilized living. They don’t belong in the house; my dad was right on the money.  (Cats are even more disgusting with their multitude of acidic and rotten smells, but that’s another post).

As you may infer, I’m a bit flummoxed by the preponderance of today’s indoor dog culture in the developed West, especially in America. Dogs are basically expected to live indoors and all modern home amenities are structured around the presence of a canine creature tromping around the house in a cloud of hair, dust and mud while a their spittle flies around like a warm tornado plume. Americans love sharing their living spaces with dogs, and I just don’t get it. What is it about the American temperament that can’t accept that not all living creatures need to live inside the house’s walls?

And why do Americans seem intent on letting every human mongrel from around the world, even those that would happily eat their owner, into our American house?

In the Huffington Post we learn that despite the hoopla surrounding President Trump’s refugee curtailment since the beginning of the 2017 fiscal year (October, 2016), the 2017 budget, as passed by Congress and signed by the President, will overshadow the restrictions by allowing 75,000 more refugees by the end of the this fiscal year (September, 2017).

The number of refugees entering the United States has plummeted in all states but four in the last few months, according to a Pew Research Center analysis of the State Department’s Refugee Processing Center data.

Almost 10,000 refugees were resettled in October of 2016, the first month of the 2017 fiscal year. That number dropped to 3,316 in April 2017 ― and so far, 3,119 refugees have arrived this month, as of May 25. It’s the longest consecutive monthly decline on record, Pew said.

Resettlement experts said they’re cautiously optimistic about the expanded interview schedule.

“We’re waiting to celebrate until we see the pipeline of refugee processing look healthier,” [Jen] Smyers [director of policy and advocacy for the immigration and refugee program at Church World Service] said. “All of this is really preliminary.”

But they are already in the process of hiring back some of the almost 600 staffers they had to lay off worldwide during the executive order legal limbo.

Congress recently passed a budget with enough funding to resettle a total of 75,000 refugees through the end of the fiscal year. This should mean significant increases in the number of refugee arrivals in the coming weeks.

Meanwhile, Americans happily seek to open the doors wider for this house can never truly be happy until it’s overrun by dogs.

Is Dan Rather still alive? (Geriatric journalists are best seen, not heard).

President Trump doesn’t “need” to give a statement about shit if he doesn’t feel it’s worthy or motivated by fairness.

Portland attack: Donald Trump urged to make statement about double murder

Pressure is mounting on the US president, Donald Trump, to make a comment on the racist attack in Portland, Oregon that left two men dead.

Taliesin Myrddin Namkai-Meche, 23, and Rick Best, 53, were fatally stabbed on Friday while intervening to stop a racist attack on a Muslim teenager on a commuter train.

The pair have been honoured as heroes by Portland’s mayor and the FBI, but the president has remained silent, despite tweeting 10 times on Sunday on topics ranging from healthcare to fake news.

Pleas are now mounting on social media for Trump to make a statement on the attack, which was carried out by a suspected white supremacist.

Dan Rather, the veteran American journalist, led the charge on Facebook, calling on Trump to acknowledge the “brave Americans who died at the hands of someone who, when all the facts are collected, we may have every right to call a terrorist”.

Come to think of it, if we’re going to enact the practice of demanding that Trump give a statement for every egregious violent and deadly act born of nefarious human agenda, why doesn’t the Left demand he give one about the murder of 8-month-old Reese Bowman?

Feels so good to burst that delicate bubble known as Leftist hypocrisy.

Analogy puzzle for the day: are you up to the task?

What do you think?

Q: The 2008 housing bubble is to the present-day education bubble as unqualified minority enrichment is to _______ ?

According to a depressing new report released this week by the American Association of University Women, women hold nearly two-thirds of this country’s student debt ― or a whopping $833 billion in outstanding loans. (And that’s probably a low-ball estimate, because the report doesn’t capture women who enroll and take on a whole lot of debt but don’t graduate.)

Oh, and female graduates also have a significantly harder time paying those loans off ― making it clear that the student loan crisis is now most definitely a women’s issue.

“Time spent in college now sometimes means unmanageable student debt that drags down those seeking greater opportunity, especially low-income women, women of color, and women who drop out before completing a degree or credential,” Patricia Fae Hoe, board chair of the AAUW ― an advocacy and research group ― wrote in a forward to the report.

Unfortunately, black women are hit particularly hard by all of this. Roughly a third of black women who got a bachelor’s degree in 2011-2012 left with more than $40,000 in student loan debt, versus just 16 percent of Latina women, 10 percent of white women and 8 percent of Asian-American women.

And overall, women of all races and ethnicities take longer than men to pay off their loans ― thanks (yes, again) in large part to the persistent gender pay gap, which means they tend to earn less than men throughout their careers, even after spending all that money on an education.

Jeremy Christian worshiped Kek *

* And Bernie too, apparently…

Well, we didn’t need to dig into the imagination bin very deeply to foresee this.

And we surely didn’t need to reach deeply into that same bin to foresee the predictable quasi-moral outrage of the left and MSM either, did we?

PopMedia will stop at nothing in order to adulate and sanctify a religion sated with hate, violence and oppression for the sake of criticizing Western civilization, and now that there are hints Jeremy Christian dabbled in the alt-right scene, the Left’s salivation is downright oceanic.

[Jeremy] Christian had been a prominent and vocal participant in recent “alt-right” rallies in Portland. At a “free speech rally” in Montavilla City Park on 29 April he was captured on video wrapped in an American flag, giving Nazi salutes.

Whenever an example of right-wing “extremism” bubbles to the surface, the Left digs its jaws into it while neglecting to address the broader issues from which such reactions were instigated.  We can’t all be as sweet and accepting as they…surely there is nothing wrong with self-protective displays of anger to external attacks by murderous marauders?

Christian’s Facebook page revealed obsessive concern with far right themes. In recent weeks he posted memes and other material attacking “anti-fascist” protesters who have clashed with various “alt-right” rallies around the country. In the lead-up to the April rally, he posted: “Looking for a couple guys or gals down to unmask anyone wear[ing] a mask at the upcoming Free Speech March”, referring to the antifascist practice of disguising protesters’ identities.

Christian also posted openly antisemitic and neo-Nazi material. On 9 May, he claimed to have challenged Nuremberg prosecutor Ben Ferencz to a debate, in which “I will defend the Nazis”. The same day, he posted “Hail Vinland!!! Hail Victory!!!”, combining a familiar catchphrase that was used at a post-election rally by the activist Richard Spencer with the far-right concept of “Vinland”.

The attack on Friday came just a week before another “free speech rally” in downtown Portland, planned for 4 June. The event is being organized by Patriot Prayer, the group that organized the event in April, and will feature a number of national “alt-right” celebrities. Anti-fascists are organizing a counter-protest.

One of the main anti-fascist groups organizing that protest, Rose City Antifa, issued a rare press release late on Saturday. It said Christian was “merely one of many white supremacists who attended a number of recent rallies organized by Vancouver, Washington video blogger Joey Gibson”. Gibson leads the Patriot Prayer group.

Rose City Antifa recommitted to opposing the “free speech” rally next Saturday, saying that “on 4 June the Portland community will say ‘No!’ to fascism, as a warning to white supremacists that their organizing will not be tolerated in our communities”.

The irony is delicious; antifa’s counter-demonstration of a free speech rally, redolent of their own brand of fascism, but no one in PopMedia calls it that.
