Do I feel the slightest kernel of compassion for such moronic tragedies of failure? Hell no. I could pretend, and perhaps even shed a few crocodile tears, but the wonderful thing about maintaining an obscure blog is that I don’t really need to worry about appearances and niceties all that much.
Compassion for idiots who walk off 60-foot cliffs because their mugs are planted in the diversion of portable screens?
A man fell off a cliff to his death on Christmas day while apparently distracted by his cell phone.
Bill Bender with San Diego Lifeguards at Sunset Cliffs told NBC San Diego: ‘Witnesses stated seeing someone distracted by an electronic device and he just fell over the edge.
‘(He) wasn’t watching where he was walking, he was looking down at the device in his hands.’
He was declared dead at the scene, the television station reported.
Hell no. No compassion, whatsoever.
Look, if the smartest, most put-together members of American society (and this happened at Sunset Beach in San Diego which presumably tells us that this now-dead specimen was in fact part of this class) insist on culling their herd by not having children, indulging in aberrant counter-evolutionary affectations, and distracting themselves with idiot technologies while they walk of cliffs like technolemmings, fine with me.
Diversions of Affluence are the death of America. Those who can afford affluence today are those least likely to have held on to the survival mechanisms that helped this country prosper and bring us such…toys.
