This town has a proven track record of “civil unrest.”
So when the wave of blind stupidity that is sweeping the nation lands here, it’s time to take note.
Shit gets real in St. Louis and Minnesota and New Orleans, but Los Angeles, though not nearly as strife-ridden as those cities, still has a flair for dramatic racial drama.
And today, a foreboding report of a police-involved shooting in one of the more charming tropical parts of the city, near 107th and Western. Foreboding for the early community response.
Los Angeles police said Saturday that there has been an officer-involved shooting in South Los Angeles, which has drawn an angry crowd of bystanders.
Officer Drake Madison said that the shooting occurred in the 1700 block of 107th Street and came at the end of a stolen-vehicle pursuit.
He did not say what prompted the shooting. No information was available on the identity of the victim’s or the individual’s condition.
A crowd immediately gathered around the area and were shouting at police and photographers on scene.
In spite of KTLA’s failure to report of the shooting’s outcome, LAist tells us the suspect died.
A person has been fatally shot and killed by Los Angeles Police Department officers in the 1700 block of 107th Street, close to Western Avenue. According to City News service, the person is a teenage boy, approximately 15 or 16 years old.
According to LAPD officer Drake Madison, the shooting occurred at 12:58 p.m. on Saturday afternoon. The shooting happened at the end of a police pursuit engaged in by officers from the LAPD’s Metropolitan division.
L.A. County Fire Department paramedics responded to the scene at 1:05 p.m., but did not transport anybody to the hospital. Officer Madison confirmed to LAist that there was one fatality.

Now let’s cherry-pick some facts here, those which essentially tell us all we need to know because as this incident unravels, given the parties and groups involved, facts and events are quite likely to become blurred and distorted beyond reason or logic. We know the routine; it’s become a rigmarole of self-inflicted victimization and delusion in America that we cannot look at situations clearly and coldly. We must instead rally around events punctuated by emotion and thoughtless impulsiveness.
*1700 block of 107th Street Shit part of the hood. Suspect probably not on the fast track to Rhodes Scholar-dom.
*the person is a teenage boy, approximately 15 or 16 years old I’m sure the community and parents will vouch for the abundant virtuosity of this poor “child” who probably looked 10 years older.
*The shooting happened at the end of a police pursuit engaged in by officers from the LAPD’s Metropolitan division. If it wasn’t for police profiling, this would never have happened. It is not our poor child’s fault!
