Handing $70 million to Los Angeles civic officials under the pretense of fostering a mysterious spurt of manufacturing growth which no one can specifically define, least of all President Obama. This is a win-win for the bureaucratic recipients of the money, local self-defined “partners,” and I suspect, very few others, especially SoCal residents.
President Barack Obama is announcing that a Los Angeles-based team will create a new manufacturing hub focused on “smart manufacturing.”
And this is where the real bull starts:
The Smart Manufacturing Leadership Coalition in Los Angeles received $70 million from the U.S. government to develop technologies that reduce waste, save energy and streamline the manufacturing process. The White House says the winning team of more than 200 partners has matched the federal grant.
I want me some o’ dat Obama Smart Money.
