This can’t end well. We’ve all known this for a long time, haven’t we?
A 46-year-old man has been charged in connection with the murder of three Muslim university students on Tuesday night in Chapel Hill, North Carolina.
Police have charged Craig Stephen Hicks of Chapel Hill, with three counts of first degree murder. Hicks, who turned himself in, is being held in the Durham County jail.

The victims are Deah Barakat, 23; his wife, Yusor Mohammad Abu-Salha, 21; and her sister, Razan Mohammad Abu-Salha, 19. Barakat was a second-year dental student at the University of North Carolina, where his wife was planning to begin her dental studies in the autumn. Her sister was a student at North Carolina State University. Police responded to reports of gunshots at 5.11pm on Tuesday. All three victims were pronounced dead at the scene.
Religion is just a frolic in the human wasteland of escapism and dehumanization. Who knows what Hicks’ motives were. Some say he was an atheist. Some say this might have been “personal.” And some are assuming it’s part of the grand global war of religion. Whatever the case, religion is typically involved.
We must embrace our primal beast. Celebrate our human, biological roots and be done with all theocratic bullshit, once and for all.
We’ll all be better for it. Deal with each other as the animals we are. Religion is ulterior motives and fantasy and lends the weak an agenda for groundless personal supremacy.
Maybe we’ll fight for stuff that matters, really matters.
Like food and mating privileges. And so many lives will be the better for it.
