Saudi Arabia fracturing (and/or Twitter)?

What gives in SA?

In Shocking Purge, Saudi King Arrests Billionaire Prince Bin Talal, Dozens Of Others In Cabinet Crackdown

In a shocking development, Saudi press Al Mayadeen reported late on Saturday that prominent billionaire, member of the royal Saudi family, and one of the biggest shareholders of Citi, News Corp. and Twitter – not to mention frequent CNBC guest – Al-Waleed bin Talal, along with ten senior princes, and some 38 ministers, has been arrested for corruption and money laundering charges on orders from the new anti-corruption committee headed by Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, while Royal princes’ private planes have been grounded.

Among those fired and/or arrested are the head of National Royal Guards, Miteb Bin Abdullah, the Minister of Economy and Planning, Adel Fakeih, and Admiral Abdullah bin Sultan bin Mohammed Al-Sultan, the Commander of the Saudi Naval Forces.

According to al Arabiya, among those sacked and/or arrested are Moteib Bin Abdullah, Minister of the National Guard, and Prince Khalid bin Ayyaf has been appointed as his replacement. A second Royal Order was issued to relieve Minister of Economy and Planning, Adel al-Faqieh, from his duties, and the appointment of Mohammed Al Tuwaijri as Minister of Economy and Planning.

According to a Royal Decree issued by King Salman on Saturday the anti-corruption committee is chaired by the Crown Prince with the membership of: Chairman of the Monitoring and Investigation Commission, Chairman of the National Anti-Corruption Authority, Chief of the General Audit Bureau, Attorney General and Head of State Security.

As Saudi analysts were quick to point out, the purge by the Saudi King means that King Abdallah’s last remnants (Riyad firmer gov. & head of Nat. Guard); media moguls; SAGIA & financial policy officials have been purged.

According to the AngryArab blog, the removal of Prince Miteb bin Abdullah as head of the National Guard, means that “this is the first time that the National Guard is not in the hand of Abdullah or his son.”

That put all apparatus of the military-intelligence network in the hands of Muhammad bin Salman.  News that Al-Walid bin Talal has been arrested and accused of money laundering.  This could be a service to Trump, who hates Al-Walid: the two fought it out on twitter during the campaign although Al-Walid tried to reconcile with Trump after his election but to no avail.

Saudi Arabia intercepts ballistic missile over capital

Yemen’s air force targeted King Khalid International Airport in the Saudi capital of Riyadh on Saturday with a ballistic missile, according to Yemen’s Houthi-controlled Defense Ministry.
But the missile was intercepted over northeast Riyadh, Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Defense said in a statement carried on Saudi-backed Al-Arabiya television.
Yemen’s Defense Ministry said the missile attack “shook the Saudi capital” and the operation was successful. It also said the attack was conducted using a Yemeni-made, long-range ballistic missile called the Burqan 2H.
Saudi Arabia has been leading a coalition of states against the Iran-backed Houthi rebels, who toppled Yemen’s internationally recognized government in 2015.
The missile attack represents the first time the heart of the Saudi capital has been attacked.

Stephen Paddock could have chosen the heroic route…

…all he needed to do was wait a month and focus his ire elsewhere and the world would have been much better off.

In fact, he would have been lauded for his public service and commitment to collective human sanity.

Alas, he struck early.   And society continues to tumble.

@realDonaldTrump goes off the air for a few minutes…is the snowball of revolution gathering?

The Left wet itself when it happened.

President Trump’s Twitter account was deactivated for 11 minutes Thursday night by a company employee on the last day on the job, Twitter said, raising serious questions about the security of a tool the president uses to set major policy agendas, aggressively go after his critics, and connect with his core voter base.

Twitter initially posted a statement Thursday night saying Trump’s “account was inadvertently deactivated due to human error by a Twitter employee.”

For those few minutes, visitors to Trump’s account were simply met with the message, “Sorry, that page doesn’t exist!”

“The account was down for 11 minutes, and has since been restored,” the statement read. “We are continuing to investigate and are taking steps to prevent this from happening again.”

But then two hours later, Twitter updated its statement saying that an investigation showed the deactivation “was done by a Twitter customer support employee who did this on the employee’s last day.” Twitter said it would be conducting a full internal review.

It begs the question. Did the scheduled “last day” predate shutting down Trump’s account…or did shutting down the account provide a segue to the employee’s “last day?”

It means a lot.

Michelle Obama’s bad case of Oprah Messiah Complex.

The Michelle Obama Bloviating Tour might be headed to a town near you soon.

If it is, I suggest you run. There’s nothing to see, much less hear, of this over-acclaimed windbag whose sole accomplishment of note is choosing a fellow who would one day be POTUS to marry. If there is anything valuable rattling around in that cerebellum, I’m hard-pressed to see a glimmer of it. And the room is awfully dark.

As part of the very first Obama Foundation’s “international summit,” the former FLOTUS lapsed into that tiresome “social expert” spiel where she seems impelled to annoyingly impart her so-called social intelligence on the masses. I would advise her not to quit her day job though…whatever it is.

Drawing on her reserves of “life experience,” she told the crowd that perhaps, just maybe, today’s men are pampered and have lapsed into a state of helpless self-entitlement.

Obama Foundation “come as you are” speaking tour

Huh?? Whatchoo talk’n’ ’bout Willis?

Former first lady Michelle Obama explained Wednesday at a summit in Chicago that she believes men are “entitled,” and that women protect them too much.

[Michelle] said that men are essentially babied and protected by women, while women are raised to be “strong.”

“It’s like the problem in the world today is we love our boys, and we raise our girls,” Obama said. “We raise them to be strong, and sometimes we take care not to hurt men — and I think we pay for that a little bit.”

“Y’all should get you some friends,” Obama joked. “And talk to each other, because that’s the other thing [women] do — we straighten each other out on some things, our girlfriends.”

She continued: “It’s powerful to have strong men, but what does that strength mean? You know, does it mean respect? Does it mean responsibility? Does it mean compassion?”

I suspect that at this point in the talk, she smugly let the silence settle strategically while the crowd cooed in approval at the unspoken “strong man” she was implying.

“Are we protecting our men too much so they feel a little entitled and … self-righteous sometimes? But, that’s kind of on us too as women and mothers, as we nurture men and push girls to be perfect,” Obama said.

Uh, yeah, that’s it, Michelle.

Today’s man is weak because strong women have “taken it too easy” on them and turned their withering souls to estrogenized jelly. Sounds right to me. Sure. Don’t you have anything better to do than spew this garbage?

Men are in the state they are in because the rising communal and political “strength” of women has created a vacuum into which masculinity has been swallowed whole; masculinity is tarnished and pathologized and women have nothing to do with it. They are innocent beneficiaries of a great cultural evolution in the zero-sum game of gender relations. Strong women can only accommodate space for weak men. Society does not have room for both.  If anything, women have beaten down men even further because they lack the “compassion” Michelle is fixated on; the compassion of the powerful, something today’s woman sorely lacks.

Men spoiled and entitled?

They should be so lucky.

I see Michelle Obama is succumbing to the Oprah Messiah Complex, in which vapid philosophizing thunders in our ears, a faux din of sensibility that cloaks the fact nothing of substance is really going on in that hyper-jawed noggin. Seemingly possessed of much more sensibility and wisdom than she truly possesses, her quasi-brand is breathed to life by a sea of ignorant onlookers.
