Trump swims with Democrats and “excludes the wall.”

I’m curious how this will play out in the Trumpland of America.

A lot of his true believers tenaciously clung to that thin veneer of hope, despite President Trump’s flabbergasting bond with the likes of Schumer and Pelosi.  Dismaying as it appears at first glance, many believe Trump was indulging in his mythical 11D Chess and that his cross-aisle shenanigans were a surreptitious ploy to bargain a concession from the Democrats toward construction of the illustrious cornerstone of his Presidency: The Wall.

Well it appears the only conceder is Trump, in the matter of DACA.  And the wall…uh.  Shelved?

Democratic leaders Sen. Chuck Schumer and Rep. Nancy Pelosi said following a Wednesday night meeting with President Donald Trump that they have “agreed” to a fix on DACA and resolved iron out a border-security plan — “excluding” the US-Mexico border wall that was one of Trump’s most memorable campaign promises.

In an optimistic statement following the White House meeting, Schumer and Pelosi said the parties had “agreed to enshrine the protections of DACA into law quickly, and to work out a package of border security, excluding the wall, that’s acceptable to both sides.”

“We had a very productive meeting at the White House with the President,” they said.

White House press secretary Sarah Sanders pushed back on that assessment: “While DACA and border security were both discussed, excluding the wall was certainly not agreed to.”

But a person briefed on the meeting said that the President and the Democratic leaders agreed to legislatively pair the bipartisan DREAM Act with some border security, excluding the wall.

Excluding the wall.

The President has been showering the Democrats with concessions.  Football season has begun…

What is the long game?

Or is this the long game?   A culmination of sorts.

Which is a very scary prospect.

    America is back! ;)

I predicted this would happen. President Trump was always going to cave on the “Dreamers”. He will get a little concession on “border security” but the issue will not go away. The wall is going to be at least partially funded. A lot of it will be some kind of completion of the fence that we were supposed to have in the 2006 bill. The real thing will be tightening the whole visa process. That is where there is a helluva lot of abuse. The wall should always be tied to tighter visa requirements. Oh yeah, and there will be a partial amnesty. Not a full one.

    • Yes, exactly.

Trump’s thing is that he hooked onto the immigration issue so fiercely, it became his one-trick pony, and much of his following was strengthened by his campaign promises.

For Trump to essentially turn his back on these promises is tantamount to telling us “All my nationalistic posturing was just an act.”

Here is a link where the author asserts (with an evidentiary tweet from Trump) that Trump didn’t sell out on the Wall.

If Pelosi or Schumer said that water was wet, I’d drink a glass of it and check for myself.

Screw those guys, I’m with Trump.

        • Anything coming out of Pelosi’s or Schumer’s mouths must be quickly put on the shelf to cool…

          Thanks for the link!
