Adult tricycles, dogs, middle-aged women, and booze; just another night in Garden Grove.

Just paint me a picture, KTLA!

The details of this case seem difficult to relate in a manner that doesn’t cause your brain to fill in all the weird scenery that must have gone on down in Garden Grove last night.

Beginning with that headline.

Alleged DUI Driver Fatally Strikes Woman Riding Tricycle, Victim’s Dog in Garden Grove: Police

A woman was riding an adult-sized tricycle with her dog in an attached basket near the intersection of Chapman and Faye avenues at about 9:45 p.m. on Tuesday when she was struck by a pickup truck, according to a news release from the Garden Grove Police Department.

The force of the collision knocked the tricycle down and sent the basket with the dog still inside a short distance away, police officials said in the release.

The unidentified woman, said to be in her 50s, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Her dog was transported by Orange County Animal Services to an area animal hospital where it later died.

Given the animal-worshiping climate of our times, the wrath saved for suspected DUI driver, Rita Faye McLaughlin, will most likely surround the fact she killed a dog, not that she killed a human.
