Senator Don Barrington of Oklahoma has resurrected an old state law which sought to add an extra dose of bureaucratic punishment to crimes committed under the influence of the Ku Klux Klan in a sneaky roundabout way: by punishing the donning of hoods.
Senator Barrington’s choice legislation, cloaked under the silliness of Oklahoma Senate Bill 13, mutates (amends) the old statute and will, once it becomes law, punish wearing:
a mask, hood or covering, which conceals the
identity of the wearer during the commission of a crime or for the
purpose of coercion, intimidation or harassment…
Next on Oklahoma’s 2015 55th Legislature’s docket is proposed legislation that will make it a crime to allow your teeth to attain a shade that is lighter than your skin.
