I’m The Ultimate Multitasking Fool, but the bitches are up my ass

A RL (real life) notation.

I’m the weird kind of guy who runs my life in a haphazard sloppy fashion which drives most people crazy, especially women. Women have that evolutionary instinct which tells them that everything must unfold predictably, linearly and buckled down in easily understood batches of compartmentalized information. Most women are not really adept at multitasking for this reason. Women believe each task must be complete before tackling the next.

Most women I know hate being bombarded by data, by info, by emails, that they must dissemble on a moment’s notice. This is what multitasking is, and the next chick I hear who argues women are superior multitaskers will hear it from me.

So anyways, I run my life like the ultimate multitasking fool. I’m all over the place. I have well-placed concurrent shit going on constantly, a real horror show of disparate streams.

I run my life like this and it pisses the absolute hell out of most women, including my mother, who, after 48 years, just shuts up.

Women who haven’t known me as long are always up my ass. They are always preaching and stressing and turning red (seriously!) around me.

Women are always ready to throw me in the dumpster because I don’t appear to have my shit in order.

But ultimately, I get my shit done. I just do it my own way (as Frank once said). I don’t play that feminine panic game. They love to fashion grandiose displays of “action” when doing everything. Stoicism, what’s that??

I do shit as I know how and no one can understand it.

  1. Well, women aren’t the only ones that wonder about you! LOL!
For once, you stumble into the truth.
The ONLY reason that I must strive to maintain a horribly, for me, neat and clean desk at the day job? Because the big boss from the home office saw it once when I was not there and could not believe I can find anything. You know how that goes. Of course I am able to find what I need and muddle on. But because that ended up going on my yearly evaluation, needless to say I am forced into this dark world of neatness.
However, you should see the desk at the humble abode that I am typing this from!
The key is that at least the missus gets it. And when I am ready, I’ll tidy it up a bit.
Kind of a lot like life, ain’t it?!

  2. Maybe they bitch because they care! Still, you know what they say about good intentions.

In a prior post in which you denigrate women as poor multitakers, I linked to three studies that examined multitasking in men vs. women in a variety of circumstances. Not going to go find the post, but the studies all indicated that men and women are, *on average*, equally good at multitasking, even if you throw math into the mix. But you go on believing it’s not true if it makes you feel better.

I do agree with you and Mark that micromanagers everywhere need to lighten up and learn not to sweat the small stuff.

No I think his analysis of women is a breath of fresh air compared to the majority in the manosphere.

        • If you’re taking your own opinions and presenting them as facts, that’s not “analysis.” Indulging in a rant or expressing an opinion is OK if you are honest about it, but don’t dress it up as if it were scientific observation. I feel like a lone nerd in the wilderness on this, though.

Not that study results represent absolute truth. But the scientific method trumps anecdotes and opinion. Especially when it comes to things we are emotional about.

Just that his categorization is more on target than 99% of the wymyn bashers.

              • Sure, there’s a lot of hateful and revolting misogynistic material out there. Seems like there has been an uptick of it in recent years, though I don’t know if that’s true or if it’s getting more attention of late. But I hold David to a higher standard.

I’m not saying it’s not OK to criticize women, but when you make what appears to be a statement of fact about all women, back it up with something more than an anecdote, or make it clear that this is your personal opinion, or just ranting and venting. I do like a good rant.

Why, thank you Amy :) I don’t like to think of myself as the garden variety misogynist.

I don’t mind aimless ranting as long as the generalizations are somewhat on target. So much of the manosphere is way off. Micromanaging is one of my main complaints about the teachers and female relatives I haave encountered so that helps.

                  • The anecdote that sticks in my mind is the old friend who got a bad science grade in high school (from a male teacher, BTW) because his notebooks were “sloppy.” He was a straight-A student, so that really stung. (Now he’s in charge of his own lab at MIT, BTW.) I had similar experiences in school and at work. Most of us have had bosses/teachers/family who focus on the small shit to the point of crushing what’s important and making life unpleasant. Micromanagers tend to suck. I’ve known males and females of the type. Females of this type are particularly “judgy,” –I personally have encountered more males of the type, but you know what they say about anecdotes versus anecDATA.

                    • Gay State Girl says:

I had male teachers who graded on neatness as well! but they were simply answering to a higher authority. Throughout my odyssey, the most intrusive and condescending teachers or therapists were always female. The males were less passionate and I say that in a good way.
