It really was only a matter of time. Big brother waits patiently for extreme circumstances to unveil its next step in the assault on our privacy. Technological intrusiveness sounds much more palatable when there is a dangerous and crazy black man prowling around your backyards, doesn’t it? Who was that famous historical American figure who said something about there being nothing to fear but fear itself…?

Whispers of drones in the hunt for Christopher Dorner.
They believe burly, heavily-armed Christopher Dorner is holed-up in the wilderness of California’s snow-capped San Bernardino mountains 80 miles east of Los Angeles.
The burnt-out shell of his pick-up truck was discovered in the nearby resort of Big Bear, where residents and tourists have been warned to stay indoors as the search continues.
Yesterday, as a task force of 125 officers, some riding Snowcats in the rugged terrain, continued their search, it was revealed that Dorner has become the first human target for remotely-controlled airborne drones on US soil.
A senior police source said: “The thermal imaging cameras the drones use may be our only hope of finding him. On the ground, it’s like looking for a needle in a haystack.”
Asked directly if drones have already been deployed, Riverside Police Chief Sergio Diaz, who is jointly leading the task force, said: “We are using all the tools at our disposal.”
The use of drones was later confirmed by Customs and Border Patrol spokesman Ralph DeSio, who revealed agents have been prepared for Dorner to make a dash for the Mexican border since his rampage began.
He said: “This agency has been at the forefront of domestic use of drones by law enforcement. That’s all I can say at the moment.”
Hmm, I agree that the drone is the lazy-man’s arsenal in crime-fighting. So are helicopters. My hometown is polluted almost every single night by helicopters. Hell, sometimes when I am walking my dogs, the light from the copter shines down and I just wave at em. And I do not live in a city that, IMHO, needs the copters. And should never get drones.
Drones are also the true lazy man’s way of war.
Isn’t it interesting for our Dear Leader, President Obama, to use drones like I use a new pair of underwear everyday? Yet he railed against it as a senator and presidential candidate. And is it not ironic how the left just dummies-up for it is OK that HE can use em, but George W. Bush?! He is a war criminal, blah, blah, blah.
I don’t like this drone business either.
AGREEMENT!
There’s been too much misinformation and misunderstanding regarding the drones being used to find Dorner. They are “only” equipped with thermal imaging equipment. They are not armed and will not execute him from the air.
There are too many people hopping on this hysterical bandwagon about the details of the drone search for Dorner. However…it’s a foot in the door for our government goons. Sure, it’s “just” surveillance now. But they never step back, they never downscale their progression toward totalitarianism once you give them an inch! Armed drones are inevitable and this is just the first step.
Thisis why I feel this is such a disheartening development in the nature of domestic security.
Drones are intrusive because they nearly undetectable unlike helicopters which are limited by size and maneuverability. It’s a matter of degree.
