…the stereotypes, they do.

The glaring archetype here is the darkly Rubenesque, sausaged-into-shorts (or is it…gulp…a swimsuit???)  mama who is trying to hide beneath a sheet of plastic that would dwarf most other people.

Let them watch football and how the West was lost.

Wasteful. Football and spectator sports, as vehicles of mass consumerism, are utterly stupid.  Sport, as physical competition, is fine.

It’s the usurpation of sport by business and commercialism that I despise. Plus…football is stupid. I made this very clear in a post from 4 years ago. Still, regardless of my personal opinion about football, I realize the competitive, team-directed activity of the game is a wonderful thing for young men to participate. But sport, the 21st Century business model, is distraction. It is vapid filler designed to mesmerize Americans and remove them from the lucid discourse about the shitty disarray to which society has sunk. I do not condone partaking of the spectator, drooling mongoloid aspect of sports fandom. Sports are big-moneyed escape and nothing spares the hides of the elites more effectively than the perpetuation of spectator sports as an escapist pressure valve when Americans should be focused on the revolting nature of their tiered and corrupted governance.

Let them eat cake has become Let them watch football.

College sports should offer a purer version of the competitive spirit.  Unfortunately, they have become another appendage of the placating business beast as well, especially college football.  A distraction and deterrence to the harsh tasks at hand. And the elites will survive another day because we worry too much about games that make other people wealthy.

We squander energy by spewing garbage and indulging in children’s activities because addressing society’s destruction is odious and not profitable to the moneyed interests.

On Saturday, Texas A&M head coach Kevin Sumlin addressed a racist letter sent to his home following his team’s 45-44 loss to UCLA in the season opener Sept. 3.

“I get criticism, which is part of the job,” he said, per ESPN.com. “I get suggestions, and that’s part of the job. In this situation, for that [letter] to come to my home and for her to open it and read that, that is completely different. My wife and kids have never called a play. My wife and kids have never done anything football-wise that led to us losing a game or winning a game.”

He continued, “The racial [aspect] is one part of it, but the open-ended threat at the end, [sent] to my house…I’ve got to draw the line there.”

Sumlin’s response came after Texas A&M evened its record at 1-1 following a 24-14 victory over Nicholls State.

Sumlin’s wife, Charlene, posted the letter on her Twitter page Thursday.

Texas A&M’s loss to UCLA came in dramatic fashion and after the Aggies built a 44-10 lead in the second half.

Bruins quarterback Josh Rosen threw four touchdown passes in the final quarter to propel one of the most memorable comebacks in recent college football history. Afterward, Texas A&M regent Tony Buzbee called for Sumlin’s immediate dismissal.

All for a game, the West will be lost, because we kept our eyes on the wrong ball.
