The Antifa crackdown; beware the double-edged sword.

Amazingly, Antifa has fallen under critical scrutiny lately despite the leftward slant of the MSM and most college town civic governments.

Even the Washington Post appears to have soured on Antifa’s violent shenanigans. And according to Zero Hedge, national law agencies are hunkering down in their stern appraisal of the European-bred anarchist group which has introduced the joys of violence and mania to domestic political rallies in the lead up to Donald Trump’s Presidency and beyond.

As Politico points out today, previously unreported FBI and Department of Homeland Security studies found that “anarchist extremist” group like Antifa have been the “primary instigators of violence at public rallies” going back to at least April 2016 when the reports were first published.

Not surprisingly, law enforcement officials noted that the rise in Antifa violence overlapped perfectly with Trump’s campaign as they made appearances at rally after rally to incite chaos…all the while making it seem as if violent, racist Trump supporters were to blame.

Of course, it’s not just California. As the FBI and DHS note, the Antifa group operates much like terrorist cells with disconnected groups all over the country.

Antifa’s fledgling persona non grata status in the eyes of mainstream liberal groups is met with glee on the Right, but I think their excitement is a bit premature. We are living in a Trump-controlled administration and a Republican Congress and the Right has putatively taken the reigns of government and should be able to assert the Conservative agenda (though this has been questionable, at times). The anti-Antifa backlash is to be expected in today’s political power distribution. The Right is in “control.”

Political tides ebb and flow and before long, the liberal wing of our government will once again command the dialogue. And with the path created by which domestic protest groups are singled out as terrorists or extremists can easily be extended to the alt-right not long in the future.  And don’t expect gracious restraint from an empowered Left.  In fact, they are the group least likely to rule benevolently.

Donald Trump cannot be President forever, and I fear that a new Democratic government will embolden the Antifa agenda.  In its persecution of Antifa, the American government is foreshadowing its future treatment of the alt-right.

The stage is set.
